The other day I stumbled upon these objects attached to the facade of many townhouses adjacent to the entrance.
Some are rusted and crumbly and others have obviously been taken care of over the decades.
I can think of multiple uses for such an apparatus.
How about you?

It’s obviously an hand hold for ridiculously strong people to lift up their houses when they want to live somewhere else. Right?
Close….but no cigar. Sorry.
But I got a kick out of your suspicion!
I HAVE to know! What is it?!
Imagine that you have stepped in a pile of something that you wouldn’t want to track into your house. A pause at this little blade-like accessory, a methodical scrape of the shoe sole and no messed-up carpets!
Simple, brilliant, and potentially smelly. I like it.
So nice to see a new post of yours, Yvonne. I thought of a scraper since I’ve lived in Europe for many years…
See you.
Hi Eveline,
Thank you! No surprise that you knew. If we still used horses &buggies, the scrapers could be used to tether them. How romantic!
Take care!
😊
